Default Ripped Music from iTunes

I have some music I've ripped using iTunes... but it never plays with any other player! Are there any programs that could allow me to listen to the songs without requiring any special codecs?

Cool Re: Ripped Music from iTunes

It's normal that you can't play that music with others players itunes put DRM
in they're music.

DRM= Digital right management.

iTunes doesnt use DRM unless you purchase the music through them. If you Ripped the music from your own CD's, iTunes defaults them to the M4P format. Winamp plays this, and other media players do as well..

However, many people (myself included) prefer mp3 files as they are smaller and more widely playable, and dont seem less quality to me. You can convert your M4P files to mp3 if you would like. to do so:

In I-tunes, select edit, then preferences. Select the import tab. Select import using, then from the drop down menu choose mp3 encoder. Then using the advance tab, choose convert. It will now convert all selected files to mp3. (This will not work with music you purchased through iTunes)

you'll have to delete the m4p versions afterwards, however.

What Bit Rate are the mp3's encoded in?
I remember reading somewhere that pocket PC's have difficulty playing mp3's with a high bitrate. I would however be surprised if windows media player couldnt play a high bit rate mp3.

You are sure they are not .m4a (file extension for Apple's AAC codec) as opposed to .mp3?

.m4p are DRM protected AAC files like the ones purchased from the iTunes store.
