WarCraft 3 black screen of death

Ok I need some help as my son is driving me crazy. We installed warcraft 3 with no problems. However when you try to open the game it brings up the warcraft pic then goes to a black screen, computer then freezes and have to manually restart the computer. All drivers are up to date and have no virus etc. Have tried a clean reinstall with no luck. BF2 and HL2 run fine.

P4 3ghz
1gig ram
Nx6600gt.
