I could use some help (obviously) and I hope someone out there has a solution for me.

I recently bought Call of Duty 2. I installed the game and when I double clicked on the icon so that I could play it, I got a "Fatal Error" message:

    "Error during initialization:
Video card or driver doesn't support alpha blending."

What does this mean and what can I do?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Your Video card maybe too old for call of duty 2.

I bought my computer a year ago. Would the video card need to be updated already? How do I go about doing that?

Also, where do I look to find out what kind of video card my computer has? I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't figure it out. COD2 requires ATI Radeon or nVidia GeForce and I have no clue what my computer has.

This is what I do know about my computer:

    Windows XP Home Edition SP2
    Intel Pentium 4 CPU
    2.8 GHz
    504 MB of RAM

    COD 2 min requirements:

    Windows 2000/XP
    Pentium IV
    1.4 GHz
256 MB of RAM (512 recommended)
100% DirectX 9 compatible 16-bit sound card and latest drivers
    3d Hardware Accelerator Card required - 100% DirectX 9 compatible 64 MB

Sorry if I'm being a pest. Please don't get mad, mods, for posting three times in a row. I can't edit this information into my old post. Sorry.

Anyway, I installed DirectX 9 and tried it again. Got the same error. :-\ But I noticed this also:

Video card is "Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family"

    Um, okay.

It's looking like your video card is just integrated into your motherboard and does not have the capability to play COD2. You are going to have to buy a new Video Card and put it in your computer. I am assuming it is a dell or something of that sort, so you are going to need to check and see what kind of video card is compatible with the motherboard you have.

Use EVEREST for details on your hardware and links for updated drivers.

If unsure, attach the log here and someone will look at it for you.
