Default Bought a new house!!!

Guess there is a first time for everything!! Me and the wife just bought our first house monday night!!! WOOOOHOOO!! Actually it is a townhome...but same difference..better then the tiny apartment and that's all that matters!!!! Don't get to move in until April, because they are still building it, so atleast we get to design it!!!

Well...off to work now, but I'll post more details later...that is ofcourse, if anyone's interested!!

Roger

Congratulations!!

Anything is better than an apartment; I lived in one for 5 years before getting my first house. I think it should be a law, everyone who leaves home should have to live in an apartment to see how apartment life is.

Buying a house is so exiting, best of luck to you and your wife!

Apartment life is only going to be as good or bad as the people around you. We live in a beautiful complex, populated by some of the most unsocialable and inconsiderate pricks in Florida. We're moving in a few months to larger quarters and looking forward to it, but it will be tempered if the people there are losers too. We'll be even closer to the ocean(about 2 blocks), and I know Abby is really looking forward to that.

Congratulations Roger, makes you feel good to see where the hard-earned money goes for a change, huh?

I didnt think about the different type apartments, the one I was in for 5 years wasn't really the best in town, it was more along the lines of cheap rent. There are really nice ones, however I have never experienced these.

I can't speak for anywhere except Florida & North Carolina, but I've always preferred a cleaner, more upscale place regardless of the price of the rent. I dont' want to worry about my car being up on bricks each morning

Where we live condoed out not too long ago, and we rent from an individual instead of a property management company. There's little benefit to that, especially when it comes to any mantainence needs, as our landlord is new to property management and thinks we can hold our bowel movements 2 or 3 days until he can get a plumber to come over.

If you get into a community with the right sort of people, it can be very enjoyable; if they are considerate, privacy & serenity aren't a concern. If it sounds like they are having the elephant-bowling finals in their unit, we just throw some sneakers in the dryer for a bit and listen to them get nice and quiet :D

WooHoo! Congrats Roger! I'm so happy for you and your wife! May you enjoy many, many years of peace, comfort and love under your new roof!

More details would be awesome! Ya know...how many bedrooms...maybe a floor plan? Gee..then we could all decorate it for you..maybe with some nice black and white check patterns or red and yellow polka dots..something funky that you can really sink your teeth in too! J/K!!!!!

My apartment in England was awesome...but then again, I had great neighbors.

The neighbors we have over here are great too, and although we have a much larger house than my apartment was, it's taking a lot of energy getting used to sharing space with others again.....

Congratulations Roger...you already know how to share space with your wife, so mving into your own home will just allow you both even more freedom and possibilities together

We can see if someone can't put together a nice Majorgeeks living room rug for you ?
Ya know...my wife did inform me that the loft would be my new playroom!! So technically, doesn't that mean I should be able to do WHATEVER I want!?!?: :

Being that, as soon as you walk in the front door, you see up into the loft, so I'm thinking that If I can get MA to donate me an MG banner...I could hang it over the edge of the banister!!!!!:

I'll have to talk to the wife and see what she thinks of that!!!!

Roger

..........yeah that sounds cool!!!!:

Outstanding... yes, owning you own residence is definitely a big step up, both standard if living wise, and financially, when you get some collateral in it.

We've had our share of both very good, and appalling apartments and home units. We started off with a suitcase of belongings each, and a one bedroom apartment when we first arrived here. Times have changed, in more ways than one.

Congrats Roger, well done.

Nothing is worse than throwing money away in rent.

Still, I feel sorry for anyone in a city like Sydney who is just entering the market.

Houses here are SO expensive. For a decent place in a reasonable area, you would need at least 3/4 million, and that isn't water views or a mansion.

Is that AUS $?

If so, then that would be 300,000 UK pounds or 540,000 US $ :

Yes, that's in AUS, and that's for nothing flash.

A lot of people here made a lot of money in the real estate boom.

I feel sorry for people (especially with kids) trying to buy a place.

Only thing worse than paying rent is paying a greedy bank mortgage for the next 30 yrs.
