Wireless Mouse jerky

Hi I've recently re-installed windows and my wireless mouse has become jerky, slow and unresponsive, i've tried installing the drivers for the mouse but doesn't make any difference, so i pluged my old corded mouse and it works fine.... any ideas.....Please Help.....

New batteries
Clean the eye - dust does collect there (ask my boss )
Use a mouse pad (some surfaces make the mouse 'jumpy')

 

Is it a trackball? With mine I have to take the ball out and clean the 3 points of pivot frequently, which also accumulate dust and crud.

 

It's an optical mouse and i've cleaned it and it also affects the buttons aswell.....

 

In addition to what Foogoo said, you can move the reciever for the mouse closer to where the mouse is (less distance for the radio signals to travel). I think it is just dieing batteries.

 

Also, if USB, try using the serial (err ps2 ports) instead on the base unit.

Ran into an issue with this. USB had issues, but using ps2 worked great.

 

You can also try control panel->"printers and other hardware"->mouse->pointer options tab->unclick "enhanced mouse precision". Causes shakiness sometimes, and that would be something that might get toggled on a clean install.

Also, maybe consider making sure you have the latest video card driver installed. Display issues might be causing the "jerkiness".

also, wood grain and reflective surfaces can cause jerkiness as well. a plain white sheet of paper works best.
