I play online poker. And sometimes the pots can get as big as $200+. Hypothetically if I lose connection, I will probably not be able to log on in time and I may lose the pot by default. I lost connection tonight while playing poker but it was only a $2 pot. I used to lose connection all the time when I had dial-up. We now have a cable modem and access to the internet through cable. When I lost connection I had to unplug the cable modem and restart everything. That's the only way I knew how to fix it. I Tried disabling and enabling the connection and repairing but it didn't seem to fix it.
I am wondering if dsl or satellite connection might work better. Or if there are things you can do to decrease your chances of disconnecting. Thanks. |

Most reliable?
T1 or higher. Can you afford it per month, or rather, do you want to? No. DSL tends to be a wee bit more stable and reliable than cable, IME. Sattelite and other wireless...baaaad. |

In New York City, Cable Internet very reliable.
Why? Coz the Telephone lines are messed up, while the Cable system is newer and less messed up. In Long Island Rural it DSL. Why? Cause I am 2000 feet from a relatively new Telco building with new line into, and in the House. However, if every thing is equal, DSL is more stable since it is based on an idvidual line rather than Shared line. Satellite Connection is less reliable then the above since signal transmission is affected by the weather and other atmospheric factors. :sun;
