I have an IBM NetVista 6579-TAU running Windows 2000 and starting yesterday it would boot up and stay on for 8 minutes then the monitor would go blank like it was not receiving a signal. I rebooted and it worked fine for another 8 minutes. I left it off for awhile and by time I came back to it when I tried to power it on it would start loading Windows 2000 then the screen would go blank half way through loading. The power stays on in the PC but it does not seem like the hard drive is being used any longer. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried a different monitor, video card, power supply, and memory all with no success.

    bad caps.
Pull the side panel and look for leaking or puffy capacitors (the round cylindars attached to the mobo) netvista's are famous for it.

This is a pain to fix. you need to unsolder the puffy caps and replace them.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out and see what I can find.
