Question Netcomm NB1 Ping Problems

hi guys, im not sure to put this in here or networking as i dont know what the problem is

im using my Netcomm NB1 with a 1500k/256k line and my ping in online games is sitting around 300-350

anyone got any ideas about how to fix this problem?

Question Netcomm NB1 Ping Problems please help!

hi guys,

i have just got broadband yesterday and i am having major ping problems
im using a Netcomm NB1 with a 1500k/256k line and my ping is sitting at an average of 300-350 which is crazy

My system is:
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mother board, AMD athlon xp 2600+, radeon 9600pro,
512 ddr400 a-data ram..

can i please get some help?

It depends which server your connecting to,how far away it is,how many players are on it and how fast it is,to see how fast your connection is go to run type command,in the command box type ping google.com or ping google.co.uk whatever is closest to your local,you should get a ping of around 40-50ms well prolly not now due to the amount of people online I'v just pinged google.co.uk and got a ping of 80ms if so you will know your connection is ok

You could try this:

right click my network places and select properties. Right-click the lan adapter and select properties. Press the configure button. Select the Advanced tab. Select the link speed and duplex tab. Make sure that 100 full is selected.

You could also try disabling any firewalls you may have, and disconnecting from any routers. (ie, connect pooter directly to modem)

just cleared my Browser windows and google.co.uk is pinging at 36ms

none of these seem to be working, do firewalls make ur ping higher?

Provide us information we can work with. Where are you located, vs. the server you are connecting to? Who is your provider?

im located in australia, VIC and the privder is TPG (www.tpg.com.au) located in NSW,
sorry for making multiple post im just really frustrated with my problem

What is the location of the server you are connecting to?

Is this DSL? Many providers use Interleave, which will add ~30ms overhead to your latency right off the bat.

im not sure of the exact server location, im laggin on most of my games, (MOH pacific assault, NFSU Most Wanted, Pariah ect,

Go to run type command then ping google.com.au you should end up with a screen like this,I have just pinged google australia so it can be pung or pinged or punged what exactly happens take a screenshot of what happens after you have entered the command

grr it wont let me ping, it says "The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal opperation Cs:0dc7 IP:ffd3 OP:63 fa 65 11 64, what can i do to fix this?
