I want to run internet to my room and I live in a rancher so its quite a distance away from the computer room so I need some cable and a bridge/wireless router so I was thinking along the lines of running 2 100FT cables with a bridge inbetween them this is what I was thinking

The WIFI bridge would only work if you are needing WiFi access. If you are going with a Wired solution, you can go up to a max of 325ft in theory. Most Ranch homes at the most are fifty feet max from one side to the other if it is a huge house.

hmm, so currently you do not have a router? please elaborate on your current situation and how far approximately your room is in which you need access.
blankly, i would recommend a router, then a 100ft cable running to the room, or if you need more distance, a switch at the end of the cable with the additional length running to the room. Router (wireless as an option) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124010 Switch http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833122029 or anything similar. |

Currently I do have a wireless Router but it only supports about 1/3 of my house so I would like to run 100 feet to get it to the kitchen and have a wireless router there then another 100 feet to my room and have the last router there which don't worry about that wireless router but that is my setup but now im thinking ill get that switch you linked and just have one router in my room so one at each end of my house

correct me if i'm wrong, but you'll only need the one router. the kitchen and other rooms could just use a wireless access point. just run a cable from the router to the kitchen and install an access point, then run a cable from the router to your room and install another access point. that is, if your router has more than one port.

you're correct ace, but at this point routers seem to be cheaper than access points, and they will work.. so its his call i suppose.
