I'd like some advice. I run XP Pro SP2 with NAV 2004 and ZAP. My NAV susbscription is up and as my NAV is now over 2 years old (and surely the technology it uses must be out-of-date by now), I was thinking of either upgrading to NAV 2006, or, as a lot of people are critical of NAV and it does seem to use resources, going to AVG Pro or, from the good results I've heard of, trying Eset NOD32 (31 consecutive 100% ratings on Virus Bulletin can't be bad - the only other 100% rating was Symantec NAS. AVG didn't do as well).
Anyone got any views?

You will not find any fans here for Norton and its over bloated less than effective tools that should be considered malware themselves. They never uninstall completely or properly (a typical complaint with malware), they can bring a system to its knees since they use so much of the systems resource (another typical complaint of malware), and we find in the real everday war on malware that it just does not work that well. Even specialty tools they release for various infections, more often than not, do not even find the infection to be present and it is there in plain sight for everyone else to see.
But everyone has their favorites and threads like this can lead to very long winded heated discussions (but not in this forum since no normal users can post in your thread but you). NOD32 is very good.

Chaslang,
Thanks for the comments on NAV, which is in line with what I'd heard. Also thanks for the comment on NOD. BTW, why can only I post a reply - did I do something wrong in making the original post? I've never had a problem before with replies to my posts. :

OH - thanks - I chose the wrong forum I guess. Apologies.:D
But at least the approved guys were the sort of informed commenters I was after! I'll stop now.
