Unhappy OK so i'm pc illiterate :p

:
Hi all,
I took the plunge and purchased the NTL recomended "home networking kit", that was the easy part ::
SETUP = NTL cable broadband
2 X desktop PC's running windows 2000 Pro with all SP's and updates
Internet connection via NTL set top box

Connection kit =
DLink DI 624+ extreme (rev H1)
DLink DWL-G132 adaptor
1 X cd rom

Problem :o
IT DOESNT WANT TO WORK : :

Summary of events :-

sat and read the awful installation guide provided (presumably written by someone on their last day of employment at DLink), installed the router, installed the software for the adaptor then the adaptor etc etc followed the web instructions that are supposed to get everything going and sat back and.....: router cant get an ip adapter cant see the router and i cant find my big hammer to fix the problem!!!!
1st telephone helper at DLink wittered on about zone alarm being the problem and suggested that i redo everything after disabling the firewall..tried no difference
2nd help line bod said "mmm i think u will need to re boot u r setop box and the router and the pc then when u turn them back on again it will be ok".......sure and father christmas will make a surprise visit in March as well:: anyhow..tried that and still no change

So now i am back to where i started ....no where

Question ** in a begging voice**

is there someone here that can and is willing to provide a simple, step by step, idiot proof guide to getting this thing to work?

Other information

I have my set top box in the lounge, 1 pc in the next room and the 2nd pc in another room, what i am looking for is a WIRELESS connection from the setop box to the 2 PC's.

thanks in advance for any and all help or suggestions ( even those that involve my beloved BIG HAMMER..)

Hi DeadAgain,
I'll take a page from our resident network guru and point you in the direction of some good guides. 1st link is to the home page and 2nd is to the guide.

Post back if you run into any problems and keep your thumb out of the way of the BIG HAMMER.
