I have this adware bargain buddy and I can't get rid of it no matter what I do!! I used almost every anti-spyware programs but it just comes back. In the manual removal it says to uninstall it but its not even in add/remove programs. Also, my task manager is not working right. When I press ctrl+alt+del a small window shows up and says something about a user,id or if it should logoff or disconnect. I am really confused. Please help!! Thankyou!!

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!:)

Have you started the below? If not please do so now. If you have a step you cannot complete such as the the manual removal or bargain buddy, move on to the next step until you are done and attach the requested logs. Someone will then assist you with the manual removal process. Good luck!:)

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis

Do you have a program named ErrorSafe installed? If so, uninstall it.

You need to install HijackThis properly per step 7 of the READ & RUN ME. You are running it exactly how we ask you not to run it. That is directly from the ZIP file using WinRaR.

Fix this and attach a new HJT log. Make sure you have booted in normal mode to get the log too.

Why are you running without a firewall application? This is a very bad thing to do! Also I do not think too much or Command AV.

    Download Blacklight Beta
    • Hit I accept. It will take you to download page.
    • Download blbeta.exe and save it to the Desktop.
    • Once saved... double click blbeta.exe to install the program.
    • Click accept agreement and Click scan
This app too may fire off a warning from antivirus. Let the driver load.
      Wait for it to finish.
    • If it displays any items...don't do anything with them yet. Just hit exit (close)
    • It will drop a log on Desktop that starts with fsbl....big number
Please attach the log file here. And then move on to my next message.

Copy the contents of the below Quote Box to Notepad. Then click File and then Save As. Change the Save as Type to All Files. Name the file fixme.reg and then click save. (make sure you save it somewhere you can find it. Saving it to your Desktop may make that easy.) Then double-click on the fixme.reg file on your desktop (or locate it with Windows Explorer and double click on it if not saved to the Desktop) and when it prompts to Add in to the registry, say yes.
Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Sepate Security Firewall] sepate.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Security Agent Manager] mssams.exe
    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Lycos <--- the whole folder
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\SpamExtract <--- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\apsi <--- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\8KZRVZFA\QaBar[1].cab
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\QaBar.cab
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\close.bmp
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msblank.html
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ersd.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rodevkaz.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sepate.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mssams.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\HELP\SPAlert.chm
    C:\WINDOWS\rdt.ini
    C:\keys.ini

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

Your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:
