Angry StartUp loading error.

Hi you all: Surprised not to find answer to this problem but Search came up empty.
I seek a hopefully simple method of removing following:

C:\ProgramFiles\AccelerationSoftware\Anti-Virus\sstsmon.dll.
Specified module could not be found.

Have wasted many hours searching for anything connected to this ite, including numerous exchanges with HewlettPackard; all unresultful. At DOGPILE there are a doxen references to it; however all the ones I accessed involved complicated removal instructions quite beyond my competence, or lack therof. At least there are lots of us with the same difficulty.

I'd be grateful for a relatively simple means of getting rid of this malware. That means if I'm wrong about the problem having been dealt with here, most probably a simple resolution is still needed.

I have run Spybot S&D and AVG and CCleaner. No findings.

I'm on HP Pavilion a1350n desktop using Windows XP Media (just bought).

Many thanks. Sincerely, RO

This may or may not be related to Spy Sheriff. Please run the steps in the below link and then attach the smitfiles.txt and PandaActiveScan logs:

SpywareStrike, Smitfraud, SpySheriff, SpyAxe & PSGuard Removal

Also look in Add/Remove programs for anything with word like Stop Sign in it. Let me know what you find.

If the above does not help fix your problem, you will have to work thru the below (but skip the repeat of the PandaActiveScan in step 6 when you get to it).

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
  • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
  • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
  • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
  • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

  • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis
.

Good morning ChasLang. Look forward to confirm received HJT log yesterday, and your comments thereon. Happy to report the sstsmon box has cleared, and believe BitDefender scan did it. Half-dozen other scans were unresultful. Relieved not to have to do a Non Destructive Recovery. Cordially, RO

ChasLang, did you not refer to my HJT log question because it didn't reach you, or for some other reason. I'd welcome your comments on it, and if it didn't get it despite my efforts, please provide your usual detailed step-by-step path to make sure it's received.

Your suspicious Spyware referral was very interesting and I'm glad I don't have any of them.

You did not attach any log files! I was not sure what you were talking about. It sounded like you were talking about email or something. If you are referring to something you sent me in a PM, it was deleted (but no attachments can be in a PM anyway). ALL communication belongs here in the threads. I remember some your PM being rather confusing about HJT not be installed correctly too.

But you already said your problem was fixed. If you are looking to attach logs, you must attach Bitdefender, PandaActiveScan, and then and only then a HijackThis log as requested in message # 2.

OK. I don't know how I messed up on Attaching the HJT log, but admittedly I did not send either of the other two. FYI, BitDefender scan took two hours and came up Nothing Found; PandaActiveScan returned 16 Spyware, 1 Hacking Tool, but I did not pay $15 for trial to remove them.

Desist from bothering you more although I am puzzled why the HJT log did not reach you. I thought I followed your Attachment info as well as their forwarding info.

I don't know what you mean about fowarding info. All you are supposed to do is attach your logs in this message thread and you have not done that. If you are still having malware problems, you must attach the logs in this thread for me to be able to help you.

By "forwarding info" I was referring to my efforts to send/Attach the HJT log. As said, apparently my efforts failed, and I wondered why.
As you say, error message no longer appears so nothing more required.
Know that I appreciate your assistance.
