   Hey,
   
   I'm having problems with this burner. It worked fine for about 6 months then this problem started happening.
   
   I put in a blank DVD-R. any CD-rom actually blank or not, and it freezes up my PC. I can still move the mouse when it freezes up but it seems like when the drive is being accessed my OS locks up. The PC immediately goes back to normal when I press the eject button on the drive.

   Motherboard drivers would be a good bet. Verify all cables are tight. Pull them out and put them back in. Did you change CD or DVD brands at some point... there can be compatibility problems. Theres a lot of possibilities here, but there are some starting points.
