Is it worth spending more on a case?

I want a new case. I've always had just a standard cheap case but I want something a bit nicer.

I've been looking around a bit but I haven't been able to find anything im happy with.. It's either too big or too small or too weird looking. I have no idea why I would want to have a window on the side. I'm not planning on carrying it around or modding it and it really doesn't have to light up.

My main problem is dust and too many accidental restarts. The case is also a bit awkward and it has some nasty sharp edges that im forever injuring myself on.

In the end I guess I'm looking for something that has a good set up inside, perhaps a little quieter and something that is not.. ahh.. beige. oh and front USB and it needs to fit a 12" x 9.6" ATX.

    Any suggestions?

I think yes and have done on a few occasions, I do generally go for Aluminium cases which are more espensive but I like the look plus the 2 main makers of Alu cases Coolermaster and LianLi both have great construction of easy access to hardware and non sharp edges.

I would if you want easy access is to look for a case that has a motherboard slide out tray as in this one I have at present from Coolermaster Praetorian PAC T01 by having the motherboard able to slide out back means you can work on a pc without having to work in cramped area, also has front USB slots.

other makers who have nice stylish cases that are not beige are....

I've had a look at the cases that you suggested but unfortunately aluminium is out of my price range... at least for now.

if i put the crap case i have the moment at one end of the scale and the ones you suggest at the other end, then i could probably only afford something in the middle.

Would going up to something in the middle be worth the upgrade?

Yeah sorry about the links as they are the top end of the scale but do show that ease of access and style need not be sacrificed in a PC.

yes something in the middle of the ranges will and can give you what you want in regards to some style ( away from the beige, bland, yucky colour ) and ease of access, what sort of price range are you looking at spending ( ballpark figure will do )? and I guess we should be able to find something for you :)

another option for you, how good are you at design? why you ask, well you could paint or decorate your case, to a style you like, even stickers can brighten up a case, but if your artistic then the skys the limit.

I have two of these Antec cases:

I bought them with rebates at BestBuy for 40 USD. They are great to work in and quiet.
The newest one I got a couple of months ago and it came with a 20/24 pin power plug and sata power connectors.
I have standard ATX mb's with AMD64 cpu's in both cases.

I saw the Antec Sonata II advertised this week at one of the local stores for 79 USD after rebates. I am tempted to get one.
It is advertised as a mini-tower but will still take a standard ATX mb. The cooling set-up is different than anything I have now.

In terms of a price range I'm looking for something around 108 USD/150 AUD/62 GBP

I know that cases can have good access. I’ve just never owned one like that. Actually I’ve never had a case that came with a filter.

I don’t think I’m really up to decorating my case :) I like the way that the black and silver ones look.

I do like the Sonata II except for the fact that only one side opens and the exhaust thing seems a little odd..

    79 is CHEAP!

I went to a store today and talked to a little Asian man who couldn’t really answer any of my questions correctly.. but anyways, he was selling it for $199AUD, that’s 145USD!!! I could knock off about $10-20AUD if I go to a computer swap meet.

Perhaps I should look online for a cheap place that will send to Australia.
