Problems with my DVD/CD-ROM Drive

It reads CD's, DVD's, Program CD's like my PC camera CD, Sony Ericsson PC Suite etc, but when I try to run games through it it doesn't recognise a CD in the drive.
It's a QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242B, any advice or help as to why it's doing this, or not as the case is?

 

Whats the game? Is it a 'backup" copy? What is your OS?

 

It doesn't read any relatively high spec games i.e Football Manager 06, C&C Generals, The Sims, Sim City 4(Deluxe Edition) but it runs Theme Hospital, all original games.

First suggestion would be to go to the manufacters website and search for a "Firmware" update and or "drivers for your make and model.
