There is nothing wrong with the monitor a ive tested it. what happens is the computer whirs to life like normal, pc monitor ticks like its going out of its standby but it never does the light stays orange. Is there any reason for this or a possible solution?

    my gfx card(geforce 7600), motherboard(gigabyte 775sock, 945p chip) memory(DDR2 512 x 2) and cpu(PD 2.8) is brand new today.

please, is there anything you know of to get this pc to boot up, it was doing no more than 2 hrs ago and now its as it is . . not booting.

im not sure if this happened or not but its all i can think of, just before my final power down the soundcard may have slipped out the socket as i powered on . . not sure if it was or not just something to try help the troubleshoot

Get a manual for your motherboard and check to make sure your CMOS Jumper is not on the "reset" mode.

If its in normal mode then try putting in the reset mode. Turn on the computer wait 10 seconds. Turn off the computer. Then put it back in normal mode and turn on your computer.

Also you may want to check to make sure your video card is placed all the way into your motherboard.

Also your motherboard may require to power cords from the power supply. The normal 8 Pin and also a 4 pin.

Hope this helps and good luck!

WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! MAKE SURE IT IS ALRIGHT TO RESET CMOS WITH THE COMPUTER POWERED ON FIRST, OR YOU MAY DAMAGE YOUR MOBO!

The CMOS reset will be a pair of jumpers on the motherboard. It resets BIOS settings to default. You'll have to reference the manual to find out exactly where it is. Make sure that you can do it with the power on, as most motherboards I've seen will be damaged if you do that. The motherboard manual will tell you everything you need to know.
