    Hi,
I'm not sure how to word this, but here goes. I type in what site I want to go to in the navigation bar and it doesn't do anything at all, it doesn't even show that its trying to connect at the bottom of the window. I can go to sites through favorites and other ways though.

    Your help is greatly appreciated,

    Thanks for replying,
I'm not sure what OS stands for but I'm using Windows Explorer, and when I type in the url, I have tried both hitting Enter and the Go Button to no avail,

    Your response is greatly appreciated.

Dell is the manufacturer. XP is the OS. :)

    Try this to repair IE
    Start/Run/regsvr32 urlmon.dll

    OR

    To reinstall IE
    Start/run/rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

    Thanks for the reply,
I tried the repair, it seemed to run well and it said it ran, but it still didn't work. So I tried what you had as the reinstall, but I got stuck at the screen shot I have attached. It won't let me push OK. Do I need to have the internet off when I'm trying this?

    Thanks

OK so your operationg system is XP SP2.

Have you got a slipstreamed XP cd? You will need it. How did you load sp2?

That's where the needed file is located.

I was wondering, how do you think this happened? I'll try to look for the CD. So is that pretty much the only way to fix it?

    Thanks

How happened, a number of things from Malware, installing a tweak application or toolbar > corrupted system file.

On the note of Malware, have you experienced any popups, weird behaviour etc and have you scanned for Malware ( Malware = Virus/Trojan/Spyware )?

yes the WindowsXP cd will most likely be needed, but a possible fix if its a registry problem could be this small IEFIX app http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4467.html

In General you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer’s Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two. Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack.

If need to Reinstall; Log to this page it have a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Settings, and Sharing,

Hey thanks for all your help, but I couldn't find the CD, and I'm really not that computer savy to understand the procedures in doing the things you were saying. So I did a little research on line (using other search engines) and found the solution and my problem is fixed (Thank God). I've attached a brief discription of what was wrong and why. And also the fix that I used, just incase anyone needs it. I wanted to give this, because this site has helped me before and I'd like to help anyone else.

    Thanks
