as i posted earlier in my "RAM suggestion" thread, i needed to update my computer...however, while searching, i found a very cheap computer that was hard to look past...eMachines T6524...it would cost me 400$ and i have 512 RAM and a GFX card to throw in...am i better of doing that or just upgrading my current system...for a price that low, it seems like a great system

i dont think you can go buy them parts and put it together yourself for that money,contrary to what they say that onboard video is not a gamer. keep in mind that you will not be able to overclock this pc.but all in all its good for the money.

I've bought 3or4 of the emachines refurbished like this( for kids and friends)and had very good luck & they are all still running, for surfing and some photos.basic home stuff Chuck

looks like a decent deal IMO. especially after you upgrade the graphics and ram. the ONLY thing I would be worried about (and I don't know the answer to this) is if emachine uses emachine only parts. be cautious.

It really depends on your current system and how upgradable it is???? Can you post some specs?!? Then we can give some more informed feedback?

What do you want it for?? Gaming or just home surfing/office/photos, etc.

It does look good for a standard home PC.

It is a pretty good deal, but there is one major issue... that emachines has a 300w PSU, which is ok for onbaord graphics, but you'll definetly need a better power supply to run your PCI-Express video card. (keep in mind this only accepts PCI-Express and not AGP)


other than that, emachines is known to be an extemely budget brand-- not intended for a gamer or power user. You could still make it work if you wanted to though.

The Emachine PSU are known to be weak if you add a PCI-e graphics card you will need to upgrade.
Emachine uses normal ATX type PSU's

my system doesn't really matter...its going to the junkyard...many problems...i am a adding an nVidia Geforce FX 5200 card to it...its PCI

a PCI FX5200 would be a downgrade from the onboard 128mb graphics. thats a terrible card for anything more than internet browsing and old games.
