I recently received excellent assistence in the Malware forum but one troubling glitch remains.
Adaptec DirectCD no longer recongnizes CD-R's. I did an uninstall and it seems to have gotten most of it except for a folder on "C" drive which can be deleted.
I suspect the problem may be in the registry, I also get a message saying the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hewlett-Packard\CPSS\InstallLevel" cannot be removed. Then a reinstall.
When I try to run MyCD i get an error:
    Response:-10-
    Command:00
    ASC:04
    ASCQ:08

Any assitance would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks....I will look around there.
First installation worked perfectly, it's after an uninstall/reinstall that things get weird.

    Thanks...

Contacted HP support (it's an HP machine with an HP CD Burner).
Was nothing more than a driver issue.
Used device manager to uninstall BOTH the CD Burner (slave position) and the CD-ROM (master).
Restart twice then run CD Burners installation disk and all is well.

thesmokingun may not have given me an exact solution but did steer me in the right direction. Thanks Smokin'
