    Hi
My computer hangs when I'm playing more demanding games.
When I play WoW it hangs as soon as I login. When I play cs or cs:source it usually hangs after 20 minutes or so. It does not show any errors or bluescreens and the only way to restart is to push the restart button or turn it off completly
My drivers and harware are up to date.

Computer specs? I hope you have 1 gig of ram and a newer video card with at least 128 megs. Obviously cleaning temp files and defragging as well as removing startup items can help.

Both WoW and CS:Source can use over 300 megs. Since your computer is probably using 256+ megs at startup, it might be using your hard drive when out of memory which can cause thrashing or even lockups. Just went throught this and amemory upgrade helped.

Running web browsers, etc. in the background? I had a similar problem, upgraded to 2 gigs, life is good.

    TRy = Re: Computer hangs

I found such as your problem related to a over heating problem [I am using a MSI 6600 256Mb Card = which MSI Speces list requires 350 Watts and UP]

Suggest you do an experiment by taking the side cover off your computer and place a room desk cooling fan about 150mm away from the computer case and have the cool air blowing on the Motherboard and Graphics Card,
By doing same my computer became OK with no freezing!!
Other is try other settings [lower ones] within Graphics Card Hardware Acceleration

Other could be with your Power supply [I have at the moment only a 350Watt = Quote, Gigabyte informed me "350W is indeed pushing the limit" = so will be installing

Let us know how you are getting along

    Regards

    Power Supply??

The MSI Card I am using is a
"MSI NVIDIA GEFORCE NX6600-TD 256MB PCIE TVO, DVI"
which I feel is a card identical to the one you are using and MSI Speces list requires 350 Watts and UP!

Do a check on your PSU

Some one on the Forum Site may be able to assist further?

I have a Hiper 480W PSU, so i doubt it's that... Does it make any difference which way the PSU is mounted in the chassi cause it's upside down now?

Well I got some new info i looked at Powercolors homepage and they said that if the GFX had the same IRQ number as anything else you might experience hangs and lock-ups and it has the same IRQ as my network card but i cant find any way to change the pci-e IRQ. I've looked in BIOS and changed some there but it still has number 18.

    Hi,
    Just some comments and thoughts!

I noticed you made no mention of you downloading and installing the latest Radeon driver for the X800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI-E ??

Have noticed some of my friends who had problems with their Graphics card have installed some of the earlier drivers to overcome their problems ??

    Regards,
