Hey, I was wondering if there was a way I could find out how much airflow my current stock heatsink + fan is achieving so I can compare with new overclocking ones.

My current HSF came with my Socket A AMD Sempron 2500+ (1.75Ghz).

Temperatures now have hit 55C load due to the hot summer weather kicking in so I'm looking to buy a new HSF. However, before I buy I'd really like to know how powerful the stock fan is so I can predict what sort of temperature I will be getting with a new cooloer

I dont know about your stock CFM
But probably the best socket A HS in production is a ThermalRight SI-97a, add a 92mm fan that can provide about 45 to 65 CFM, On my OCed NF2 system any thing over 65 CFM just makes more noise, Ive tryed many a fan & HS

The only solution that might be better will be water er phase

Your box sempron prolly came with this, just have a quick check under the hood,20 cfm at 30db,poor airflow and loud, any decent cooler will be a good upgrade IMHO personally I dont like fans over 20 db :)

Edit= 55c aint that bad really,a quick dust up and wire tidy should bring it down a few degrees, unless your planning to overclock I wouldnt bother getting an aftermarket HSF?

Yeh I know 55C is still well within safe temperatures, all my wires are as tidy as can be and entire case was dusted out only a few days ago. However, I would still prefer to get those temps down if I could. Thanks for all the links guys, you've been a great help :)

Sorry for the double post but I thought rather than start a whole new thread for another small question seemed ridiculious! Anyway, my new question is that is it possible to buy 120mm case fans that have a cold cathode ring around them? I've seen lots of 80mm cold cathoeds but no 120's :( I'd prefer the supplier to be based in th UK if possible, however this isn't vital :)
