calling my hardware buddies.....need ur help...

i have a 150GB HDD (its 160GB really but windows took 10GB) and now its full. so i decided to delete some stuff (using shift-del) off the HDD. all in all, i deleted about 18GB worth of stuff but for some reason the 18GB free space doesnt show. what do i do? i need that free space.....

btw ive tried defrag and it wont run. windows say its needs 15% of the HDD space in order to run. disk cleanup says theres nothing to clean.

Possibly a simple solution. But you probably did this already. Is all of the deleted stuff in the Recycle Bin? Two, did you reboot?

Do you have Norton on your PC, and if so does your version have the Protected Recycle Bin as if it does, even when you delete via windows, Norton secures them( sneeky little bugger it is ) in case you didnt want them deleted, so you have to purge the protected recycle bin of Norton.

Also I would download and install CCleaner and use its options to delete a vast array of temp files, which can take alot of space up.

Norton protected recycle bin is there to give you a second chance if you accidently delete something. It does what it is designed for BUT you have to remember occasionally to purge it. Bazza
