Upgrade

My wife's PC is a P 42.66 1gig . She just uses it for eMail and web. Also we do my Invoices (W/Quicken) for my work. I would like to upgrade her cpu & MB.I'd like to stay around $300.00.I could pick something out,But I would feel much better if I could get some Idea's from you all first Thanks in advance for your time & advice. Ok, I know That we are suposed to offer advise, and if you can't help don't try but I have to know. If you use this system for internet, and e-mail, some for invoices. Why would you need to upgrade ? 2.66Ghz seems like overkill for that already ? I have a 1.2 Ghz AMD sys that I use for the same thing, and it works perfectly. $300 for mobo and a decent processor. Go to a dual core AMD system, and I prefer ASUS Mobo's but everyone has their own prefence.

 

OK ,The PC is about two years old and we have three pc my son's mine and hers. Each time I upgrade them I take the cpu and MB and put together another PC and give it to some one who can't aford to get one.And she gets a faster one. I'm not rich but I can't stand to see someone who would enjoy a Computer if they could get one not have one.Chuck

 

Wow, thats amazing. I donate computers during the holiday season, but not a 2.6 ghz machine.
