I am trying to access a printer connected via an LPT port on a Windows XP computer. I am currently networked to this computer via a linksys router through a cat5e lan. I can see the computer but can not acces the or even see the printer. I am running OSX Please help

I have installed the print drivers for my mac local printer and for the xp printer and still no luck even seeing the printer

what version of OS X are you running? and what is the brand and model of the printer?

I am using a HP Laserjet 4200 printer on a Windows XP machine. The Mac is running version 10.4 OSX

Not certain on the HP Laserjet 4200, but the Inkjet 4200 will not work properly on a Mac osx unless directly connected.
Assuming you have checked compatability on this discontinued printer... Make certain you have turned on Windows Printing (SMB) in you Sys Preferences. Add a printer in your Sys Pref >> choose Windows Printing >> your print server PC should show in the window >> choose accordingly >> pick the apropriate printer model and choose. Acktom |

Oops, forgot one thing. Make certain you are on the same Workgroup, Macs and Win XP machines.

you can use the BONJOUR utility on the mac and download BONJOUR for windows xp. remember to set the printer sharing on.
