With new computers and motherboards do you still ahve to have a floppy drive to install SATA before windows installs. If so is there a way to do it without a floppy drive. Cause my friends new computer doesnt have a floppy driev and i dont want to have to take mine out and put it in his just for a damn driver.

    Thanks

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, and using WinXP PRO, with SP2 and I DID have to use the floppy drive to install the drivers, specifically because I am using two raptors in RAID-0. So, the answer to your question: yes, you will more than likely have to help your buddy out.

Lots of newer MOBO only need floppy drive if doing raid setup

Another option is an OS CD with SATA/Raid drivers Slipstreamed
I use nLite for this, I also slipstreamed MS Service Packs & Critical updates

You can make a Slipstream cd without a floppy drive, it takes some time to create the slipstream cd but IMO well worth it, if you frequently install OS

While on subject what is Sweet is a Unatended install CD with Servicepacks, critical updates & raid drivers

it depends on the chipset the motherboar is build on. as i know nforce chipsets don't need a floppy drive to install sata drivers
