Mouse turning on and off

I went through the malware sticky and still haven't figured this out.

My mouse will turn off whenever the processor is under any sort of load (i.e. when I open a new application or when playing something on windows media player). So it's slightly irritating. It all started when my o.s. hard drive crashed and I put in a different one and re-installed my o.s. Please please please offer me some suggestions. I've tried switching out the mouse and I still have the same problem. I'm out of ideas here.

 

Do you have a exclamation point in your device manager over the mouse ?
If not try to re-install driver for mouse or you may have a IRQ conflic !!!
