Okie I am putting a X1600 Pro 256mb PCI-E video card in my computer and it calls for a 350w PS. I am useing a (dont flame me please I know its lame) eMachine W3400 and was wondering what PS would work in this? Any help at all and I would be very Greatful.....Thanks

ok first off ditch the 350 PSU. computers are getting power hungry everyday so a 350 is no good. i recommend getting a PSU above 500W. i personally recommend the Seasonic S12-600.

i had a Sony VAIO (still do but i swapped cases) and it wouldnt fit a normal sized PSU. I had to switch cases in order to fit it in but it sure was fun. If ya got the money, id buy a new case and pop everything in there. Looks custom and its really fun :D  If not, consult the eMachines website for specs, or just measure your PSU and post the measurements here. Im guessing its a small one tho.

    Hi and welcome to MajorGeeks.

I assume you've done you're homework and checked the motherboard actually has a PCI Xpress slot for your video card?

I can't find the specs for the power supply, but most are very basic and underpowered.

You could probably get away with using the standard PSU, but you're better off buying a new, quality unit.

Any decent brand name unit 400 watts + like Antec and ThermalTake are very good, and aren't that expensive.
