Beginner Mac User Here! I'm trying to connect to a website stored locally on a windows machine on the same network as my mac. When trying to connect to the web site using another windows PC, I just go to my IE browser and type: http://{computer-name}/logon and it will connect. However, I cannot do this on my mac. I can't even ping the host name, only it's IP address. Is there some DNS setting or something I need to mess with?
Thanks! |

Aswers you seek are likey in the article Belashti has provided. In a nut shell though, you can get to your info doing the following. Two options:
Assuming you are using OS 10.3.x or greater (will also work w/10.2.8+) #1. Open yor HD on the desktop >> choose Network on menu bar(left)...be patient it takes a bit >> you should see the Workgroup/Domain of the LAN >> double click accordingly >> shared WIN XP machines should populate (again, be patient) >> Dbl click desired PC >> type in apropriate user name & P/W >> choose desired mount(s) and click ok. or #2 go to PC you wish to access >> Note IP Address of PC >> return to Mac >> at desktop, choose Go from menu bar >> choose Connect To Server >> type in smb://the ip address of the PC >> click Connect >>type in apropriate user name & P/W >> choose desired mount(s) and click ok. Good Luck, Acktom |

Thought of one other thing. Make certain SMB is active in Directory Access. Also configure SMB to your Workgroup/Domain.
