6 Days left to Activate Windows?

Hi, everybody
I just received the Bad news from my father. He rang me to inform me that a message popping up on his screen everytime he turns the computer on. And that message is " You have 6 days to activate Windows " I said WHAT ! We installed Windows XP Home on his computer from an original XP CD from his other computer. I rang MS and entered the Windows ID number the computer gave me and after that it said Windows Is Activated. I told my father to double click on Activate Windows Icon, when he did, he said" message is saying that Windows is already activated? Can some one please give me advice as to what to do from here, im starting to PANIC.....Thank You.

Hi, I went to that link, done the test all come up as Passed and i pressed Validate Windows, then it said, Thank You for Validating your Windows Product. After that i done a reboot, theres still a message saying you have 3 days to Validate Windows. The thing i dont understand is when i press ok to Validate now, It's telling me Windows is already Activated, Whats going on? Has anybody encounter this problem before? Thank You.

 

May be you should try contacting microsoft by phone and explain your situation.....

I had exactly the same problem. I called MSFT and they fixed it there and then over the phone. So give them a call as Halo suggests Be at the computer concerned when you do so, as they will give you codes to tap in.

 

Hi, Everybody
I rang MS Technical Support, they were very helpful, the Support Tech. guided me through the Regisrty which he got me to change few things. After Reboot, Lets activate windows page come up. I choose to activate via phone then the computer generated an ID number, which i read it to the Tech. over the phone, then he read some numbers for me to type in, after that Windows was Activated working again. Thank you all for your help, cheers........

 

Same process I had to go through too..glad they got you up and running Thanks for the feedback.

 

Agree with Halo, phone validation was simple enough.
Just lots of numbers to type in when prompted.
Make sure you keep a copy of the numbers, somewhere safe, in case you need them again if disaster befalls you.

This will find most serial keys on your PC and you should store the key info in a text file, or doc file for safekeeping. Bazza
