Hi, I'm working on a friends new hp pavillion dv9008nr, for some strange reason the sales guy didn't inform them they had a builtin broadcom wifi adapter, so they also bought a linksys usb wifi. Now she claims she cannot get on the internet. I took the until home and disabled the usb adapter, rebooted in safe mode with networking and managed to get the internal broadcom card connected to the wifi net. BUT on reboot it won't stay visible in the network connections. It doesn't show in the device manager. system reports says:
    Item Value
    Name [00000001] Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN
    Adapter Type Not Available
    Product Type Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN

I need to elaborate on my msg, I managed to get a better look at network devices by enabling viewing hidden devices, I disabled these other mini port things, (see attachment), that didn't help, but I still can't get the broadcom adapter to connect again. any other ideas??

Have you tried uninstalling the usb from device manager and removing any linksys programs that were installed?

what a mess, did live chat with HP for about a hour, they directed me to flash the bios, download various drivers, etc. I was unable to uninstall any adapters, I kept getting "
"failed to uninstall device. The device may be required to boot up the computer" message from windows. Finally I called her back and had her check her purchase date, turns out shes only had it 6 mos! and she bought a 2-yr extended warranty, I'm recommending she use it! Thanks for your response anyways!
