Drive Imaging Software

Does anyone know of a good, free, reliable hard drive cloning program? I've tried all I can find but am not having much luck. Note that the drive I am trying to copy to is a SATA drive. Shouldn't make any difference I know, but it does.

Sometimes drive manafactures will have cool little tools that you can run to backup \ clone your drive. I have used the seagate tool before for backing up to another disk and it worked pretty well. Good tool and not only reliable but free too.

 

Sounds like a good app, but it is only a data copy utility, not a drive imaging utility, like the OP has requested.

DriveImage XML is a free 3rd party (if utils from the manufacturer aren't available) imaging program.

 

If you read the full text about the software you will see it can back up\image an entire drive, I have done so with it many times. however your commendation is also worthy of note and is also entirely suitable.

 

Backing up an entire drive is not a drive image

Unless you use a drive imaging software, the chances of it working on another drive are slim due to files in use, permissions within the ntfs structure, hidden files, etc.

I think you need Migrate Easy from Acronis. This is the utility for cloning hd. It is work well for me. In isn't free, but there is a free trial, you can see if it is what you want.
