I am officially a married woman, and very happy to be home in the US again.

I was pickpocketed day two of my honeymoon, and my wallet is since gone. In it were my Visa cards, my drivers license, my Greencard, and a passport. That is not something you want to have done to you when you are traveling in a country where practically no one speaks conversational English--not even the employees at the Tourist Information counter of an international airport. German was not an option, as no one spoke that language either.

All the government employees I had to deal with to solve my lost paperwork issues, from embassy switchboard workers to CIS passport controllers, where extremely helpful and understanding, and their efforts and assistance have raised my opinion of underpaid government officials quite a bit. After all, they helped me get back home.

And now, back home, I can relax and enjoy my happily ever after. I expect it will last until next time the catbox needs cleaning.

Pity about the darn Pickpocket, though. It is a real P.I.T.A. when you lose all your cash and documents overseas. I got pick-pocketed by a trained monkey in Bali once, about ten years back (seriously). That's when I realised it's not a bright idea to keep my wallet in my back pocket. ~ I don't wanna talk about it!

The rock is a family heirloom, passed down from father to son in the Guy's family for a few generations now, which is why it's special. The sheer prettiness of it is of course a factor as well, though not nearly as much.
