[rant] (hey, my first MG's rant)

No joke. Tuesday I lost my job and now last night when I was coming home from my girlfriend's house I got a friggin speeding ticket. Cop was tailgating me hardcore then i sped up to get some distance. They sped up with me so i sped up some more. They backed off and I slowed down and they flashed me (with lights, duh) at the stop light which sucked majorly, 66 in a 45...though it was in the middle of the night (12) and NO ONE was around on this long straight away except this retard riding my ***.

I OFFICIALLY HATE COPS, i dont care if they are trying to make the roads "safer," why do they have to be dicks to everyone with a modified car? When he came up to my window and was talking at me a while he said, "why did you keep speeding up and slowing down? You were trying to get me to race you weren't you" ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!! :flip He also wrote me a ticket for my exhaust which is perfectly legal, apparently he thought it was too loud.

And how convenient this happens 2 days after I lose my job. Now I have to pay the ticket with money I dont have and plus that, my insurance is gonna be insane because I already have a point from my accident a while back. Plus, my dad, being the insensitive guy he is, is being a jerk about all this and on top of that Ive gotta pay ALL my insurance now, $200/month (i used to pay just half of $100)

To add to my misery, the only good thing Ive got going for me right now, my girlfriend, is leaving for school in 4 weeks so I'll only be able to see her a few times a month.

WHY DOES THIS ALL HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ME!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!! :cry

    [/rant]

Try not to let it get you down, yes things really stink but that means it can only get better. I've been jobless and penniless as well, I know how tough it can be!

Just stay strong :strong and keep your head up :)

So wait, you knew it was a cop tailgating you and you still sped up past the speed limit? That sucks about the timing, but you kinda asked for it right there. Let the cop ride your *** all the way back home. You're obeying the law that way, and you won't give the cop a reason to give you a ticket. Just my 0.02

Still though, you were speeding. Pull over and let the guy pass if he's tailgating you.

sad to say, thats how most ppl learn their lessons (myself included). Most ppl have to live and learn - its stinks but atleast you have learned from it. Some ppl dont thats why they keep making the same mistake over and over......

Go to court, you might get lucky and get it dropped, the cop might not show, worth a try anyway.
Just don't say, "things can't get any worse". Trust me on that one. Good luck, keep in mind nothing lasts forever.

Its good that you learned your lesson, even if it had to be the hard way. I hope things start getting better for ya.

Let me first say don't get depressed keep on fighting just when you least expect it something good will happen to give you a lift.

ok you have a problem with insurance but that could also be worse if you had a bad accident (like i did) you would pay much more than double.

as for your girlfriend there is always SKYPE.

the thing with your dad being intensive (that's our job to p**s the kids off)

so look at the bright side you will not be forever young and it's not always great to be an adult.

Skype is a lot of help as far as staying in touch goes... especially the video chat ability they added a while back.

And although things suck right now, try to focus on the positive. You still have some place to stay, right? More importantly, you still have your girlfriend. Things could be worse.

Keep fighting, and eventually you will get back up on your feet again.

Yes, I was thinking along similar lines. I won't claim to know about laws in the US, however, if it was me in that situation, I'd be looking to see if there was any way of defending the charge on the grounds that you speeded up because the police car was following too close to have a safe braking distance.

In the UK, something like this could be dealt with by writing to the chief constable of the police force concerned or the Crown Prosecution Service, explaining the facts and asking them to withdraw the charge.

@ Viperboy_403...When I was 19, I was halfway around the world from my family and friends, floating around on a 25 year old leaky ship, trying to get 8in. guns hidden in the jungle to shoot at us (and they did), re-reading a "Dear John" letter over and over, and clueless about life. It gets better, believe me.

A little late to mention, but thats a giveaway that its a cop. I've been followed by lots of cops, unmarked cars aside, I can spot em by their headlights.

I had one of those big 4WD's tailgating me. He turned on his lights in daylight. I was in the outside lane doing the speed limit and preparing to turn of the highway later on. I slowed down to half the speed limit, after all the speed limit is the MAXIMUM speed you can do, not the MINIMUM as he apparently wanted. He soon got the sh*ts and sped up through an inside lane. I followed him for a while. He was an accident waiting to happen.

I took his licence plate number and thought about reporting him to the police.

Hope he survived the drive. Bazza

Luck, both good and bad, usually comes in batches. The only good thing about bad luck, is that it doesn't last forever (like good things, too, I guess). Most of what happens to us depends on our frame of minds, so it's important to look on the positive side. There always is one, although sometimes it's darn hard to find, I'll admit.

Jobs can be replaced, and fines can be paid. But, as said, you still have the important things in life, right?

I hate the thought of boys having to go through that every war. You probably didn't have a choice did you, having the draft in effect then. I think
Corporal Punishment's idea of girls and fun is better fitting for young men.

I did have sort of a choice, Darlene. I could have went to Canada rolleyes , but I joined the Navy before I got drafted (my # was 11) Then they dropped the draft while I was in boot camp. :cry And as far as the girls and fun, haven't you heard the old saying? "A sailor has a girl in every port." ;)
And I totally agree, young men (boys) should not fight wars, POLITICIANS should!!!!!!

@viperboy403....count your blessings. There are worse things then paying traffic tickets. ;)
