    hi -
    i have been gaving problems when i run .exe files and using any Java applications. i deleted java and tried to download again with IE 6 but received errors. i then downloaded it with firefox.

    any program i try to download i seem to receive an error when i run the .exe files related with the program.

    i have went through as much of the steps in the 'Malware removal Guide' but could not load up panta active scan as it is java programe.

    also could not run Kaspersky - received errors.

    i have attached the details of other scanners i used - Bitedefender etc.

    JAVA ERRORS:
    Invalid patch file:’C:\PROGRA~\Java16~2.0_0\patch-1.6.0_0_02-b06.rtp

    Java (tm) Update fails to apply changes to your system

    Error 1722. there is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    The intallation of package http:java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jre-6u2-windows-j586-jc-epi failed with -203.

    i then downloaded java with firefox and it was able to dowload but still can't access java programmes correctly that i could before.

    Eventually was able to download and run java from firefox.

    i also use a program called TAS books 2 for accounting and have been having problems with this also i get a run time error 'Run-time error '-2147220504 (800403e8)': Invalid procedure call or argument. '

    Other problems with i tried to install spybot i received an error:
    The set-up files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.

    I have run many virus scans: bite defender, avast of which i have the log files and have also ran spybot and counter spy. i could not run any more as i could not get java to work.

    I have also attached bite defender scan results: runkeys.txt, a2scan.txt.

    The READ ME does not ask you to run Kaspersky.

    We do ask you to run CounterSpy or AVG Antispyware if you cannot run CounterSpy and attach the log from one of them. Where is one of these logs.

    Please remember that ALL logs especially HijackThis must be attachments. You need to rename HijackThis as requested in the READ ME. As stated, this is very important or certain infections will not even show up. I have removed your inline HJT log and attached it to my message because as stated in the READ ME, only 3 attachments can be added to any single message. You then need to attach a NEW HJT log.

    Also I don't know where you got your copies of ShowNew and GetRunKey from but you did not download them from the current version of the READ ME. You are way out of date. You must follow the directions in the READ ME and download the current versions and attach new logs from both GetRunKey and ShowNew.


    I cannot help you with this program in the Malware Forum. Try the Software Forum if after we remove all malware you are still having problems.

    Uninstall Spybot, reboot (don't skip), after reboot delete the C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy folder and also this folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy

    Then download Spybot from the link in the READ ME and reinstall it.


    You did not attach a log from A-Squared but we did not request one anyway.

    You problems may not be due to malware; however let's cleanup whatever I see and we will go from there. But there is a chance I will be sending you off to the Software Forum. After getting your new logs (requested above) I will give instructions for any necessary fixes.
