For some reason my computer wont read jump drives. All the USB ports work and I have tried using jump drives on each port. Ive tried alot of things but my computer still dosent read jump drives.

What is Operating System and Jump Drive? Is it detecting, but not reading info on jump or is it not detecting at all when you plug in?

I had bags of trouble getting my old 128mb Jump drive recognised - until it became apparent that it would not work through any sort of hub - even a new powered Belkin. But plugged directly into the grey box things are fine.

up saying USB mass storage device decteded. But when i go to my computer it dosent show my jump drive.

Go to control panel / admin tools / computer management / disc management / ...does it show?
It may ...and if it does. right click it and assign it a different drive letter.

Is the alert comes up saying USB mass storage device decteded the "Found new hardware wizard?"

If so, you may need to install drivers for the jump drive.

Then the question would be " what operating system are you running?"

XP should have the drivers for USB drives built in. Have you tried this drive on another computer?

How old is the drive? Some really old jump drives will not work in USB 2.0 ports. The technologies are just not compatible.

My experience of Jump drives is that they frequently don't work with hubs, so must be plugged directly into one of your PC's USB ports.

I've been using this free utility for some time now and I haven't had a problem with removable drive detection or drive letter allocation since I installed it.

Its not just one jump drive that wont work but all jump drives that I try to connect to my computer directly (no hub) wont work, but they do work on other computers.

Thank you that website had a solution to the problem and now everything works. Turns out a program I had installed did something to the Sys 32 folder and I had to delete some things and after I did it all worked.
