Windows Script 5.7 ,do I need it ?

Hi,I like to keep up with all the updates,my question is do I need this update " Windows Script 5.7 " or not. What would happen if I did this update,would it make and difference or really what does it do.

Windows Script 5.7 for Windows XP contains:
Visual Basic® Script Edition (VBScript.) Version 5.7, JScript® Version 5.7, Windows Script Components, Windows Script Host 5.7, and Windows Script Runtime Version 5.7.

We can talk in detail about each one of them, but this is not the point of your question.

As a very brief information, there is what is called Active Scripting which is the technology used in Windows to implement component-based scripting support.

This means that we can use multiple scripting/programming languages directly as long as they are in the form of "Active Scripting engines" and supported by Windows Script Host. The interfaces to Active Scripting
engines are public, so any developer can create his own applications that are
programmable in Active Scripting languages.

So, VBScript, JScript are Active Scripting languages implemented as Active Scripting engines. So we are able to mix different
scripting languages in one WSF (Windows Script File) to accomplish our tasks, and this file is used and executed by Windows Script Host (generally speaking)

I know I didn't answer your question till now, but I had to give you an idea first.

OK, as with any software, there are updates, modifications, and enhancements added, so we need the latest version.
Version 5.6 is installed by default with Windows XP, so it recommended that you install the 5.7 version, unless you're running Vista, because it will be installed already.

Note: Sometimes an update is really small, not too many files are modified, but it's an update after all. I mean everything will be working fine if you didn't want to install the 5.7 version.
