Heheheh... some days it is just so freaking satisfying when you can outgeek someone or something like that. I finally got to spend some time working on a system I got at auction and found some new toys (like OPHCrack) to locate passwords and such on a drive. OK, I took the loaded drive out of the machine and popped it into my rig for a bit and ran this proggie called OPHCrack on it and got all the logins and p/w's for it. This is a great little program that works well when you have the HDD out of the machine you are working on and plugged into your machine, not for systems that are already booted :)

*sigh* life is OK now... kinda helps me feel better after the past week and all :)

Hope you are all having a great day!!

I guess i am lucky ;) because i think maybe 3 years ago i was in radio shack and got myself a $30 5 button Compaq rechargeable wireless optical mouse that was marked down to $10 and i never had one problem with it and i am still using the same batt's that came with it. I can use it allday gaming (non-stop use) and will last well into the night before it dies and it even has a little LED to tell me when its almost dead to put it on its charging stand and turns green to tell me when its fully charged then all i got to do is charge it for a hour or two and its fully charged and ready to go again. It has two channels and a auto connect and manual connect for when you change channels.

haha...you are lucky. My microsoft wireless optical didn't come with a charger. I had to keep changing batteries like Kestrel. Plus it didn't respond very well at all.

    Cute pic Calltaker!:D

Since we're talking about 'geeky' stuff, for fine graphix work (and some games), I like to use the Marble Trackball device.

OPHCrack uses the so-called Rainbow Tables, and has it's uses, (and limititaions). Can be handy, or can Foobar your files if misused.

Are you blaming your mistakes on your mouse??? :D

True...I did my research on it before I used it, but I have to admit, It cracked it out fairly quickly.

While it has a lot of potential to be abused, it is also a great tool for someone like me who buys comps at auction and refurbs them to 'resale' (Yeah... resale... to me and my family..LOL) it means that I don't ahve to go through reloading an OS and such. Makes life easier, all I have to do is unhook my CD-ROM and then plug the drive in there and reboot and take a look... eventually, I am going to make a rig just for doing that kind of work. Something that has all my little toys like that on it :)

Nope. The 'Foobar' term was in the context of using OPHCrack, not me mouse. I'm not that clumbsy, lol! ;)

Meh, go real geeky. I know how to do that, with the Windows XP CD. Without reinstalling the OS :D

OK, so that makes you the ubergeek then adryn ;) Of course, if I still had a copy of WinXP, I would be more favorable to that solution... however, it disappeared when my car was broken into last week :(

Is OK, I am good at locating software online that I can use to do what I like... actually, like I said earlier tho, being as I do buy a lot of machines at auction, some of this stuff will actually get use don a semi regular basis too :)
