I'm having a problem with IE.

Now, I use Firefox and I love it. The problem is IE keeps sending up popups that sometimes take forever to close. Or I get some kind of server error because IE s trying to send me a popup but there's a server error and it's asking me to either "Switch to" or "Retry" and it won't go away until I hit one or the other.

Is there a way to just get rid of Internet Explorer altogether?

Its integrated into the OS, so the short answer is no.

What? This makes no sense. Just don't open Internet Explorer. You can't get any Internet Explorer popups if you simply don't open Internet Explorer.

And, what version of Internet Explorer do you have? If you're running Win XP SP2 or Windows Vista with Internet Explorer 7, you won't have a problem with popups, even if you do use it.

On a malware clean system thats true.

However, if you are infected with malware, then what he said could happen quite easily without opening IE.
