    Hi!
Someone told me that his keybaord isn't functioning well, after trying it myself I found that some keys and key combinations aren't working. I suspected a software issue first, language, encoding...etc
When all of that didn't work, I suspected that some liquid was spilled inside the keybaord and was affecting the circuitry

Today I decided to use the screw driver, and so I was happy to find out that my guesses were correct, I found black spots of coffee traces on the internal plate (or whatever you call it).

My question is: If I clean the spots with a wet cloth then dry them, would the keyboard be fine?

Note: It is only 2 weeks old.
    Keybaord type: Chicony
    Keybaord model: KB-0402

Nothing ventured nothing gained, at least it isn't chocolate syrup. Damp would be preferable to wet. Try to keep yourself static free when working with PCB,s, or any electronic components. Some retailers are good about recent purchases being returned, some are not. Funny no one seems to know how the Foreign Object Damage got there.

Yes, musksnipe, I remember reading this thread before. It was interesting.
But my situation is different, first, the coffee was hot, and second, they were discussing cleaning the keys and the top cover, not those plastic plates that hold the printed circuits.

    :confused

Yeah, you always have to figure it out yourself.
No one will ever admit that he did it. (For example, when I faced the owner of the keyboard with the coffee fact, he was surprised as if an alien did it)

No they were putting the complete keyboard in the dishwasher. Check this out:http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11029793

The 7 year old thread was not discussing laptops.

If the poster had read and looked up " Chicony model: KB-0402" as posted in the first post, he'd have seen the image
    http://www.engadget.com/products/chicony/kb-0402/
    of a standalone keyboard.

It pays to read everything and ask questions before you try something.
