Psychic, no. Linux will not hold your hand, it requires a certain amount of RTFM.

If you want to run Linux, expect to be reading a lot.

    Point taken about RTFM :(

The partition software was a freebie on the front of one of our monthly computer magazines over here in the UK (Paragon Partition manager 8.5).
    Seemed to work very well.
If you look on this site for free software i think there is a similar download.

    Regards to you both.

Wolf, if you have 650-700 MB ox space, download the ISO of any Distro.

using CD Burner software, make an iso image and it will usually be a boot image. Place in your CD and reboot your system. The Linux software should help with partitioning.

Other good new Linuxes include Knoppix, and Gentoo. Any linux is fully customized to how YOU want it to work. My Kubuntu system is a full desktop replacement, but I have spent hours finding how to fix it when I break it. That becomes half the fun.

Just to add, as a lot of users get confused at this step, we've GOT an .ISO image, and we want to burn it. We can't JUST burn it though, as often, users end up with a disc with a useless .ISO image.

We need a CD burner app with the ability to translate the .ISO image into the disc's contents. Many people have Nero, which is capable of this. I prefer ImgBurn which is meant specifically for this task.

The easiest way (because it's the only way I know) is dl it, burn an image CD and run it live to get a feel for it. From there, install it while you're there.
Almost forgot, back up important stuff in your other OSs first.
