Would anyone know where the dll's get loaded from on boot up?
there must be a file the hold the dll's that at boot up it knows which
    ddl's need to be loaded.
At boot up I get a msg that a dll could not be loaded. I would like to
    get rid of this msg.

    Thanks

    Depends on the .DLL
For Windows .DLLs, most are located in the system32 folder.

For any installed applications..... who knows?

We might be able to advise you better if you could post a screenshot of the error, and post it here.

It's an installed application. I know where the dll is but I'm trying to remove it from boot up. I don't want it to load it at startup.

Then you probably don't want the application itself running at startup. That's more than likely what's calling the .DLL

There are instructions on managing startup programs at this link, as well as other tips for speeding up the computer.

Here what got me to this spot.
Someone installed an app Registry Cleaner.
I 1st tried to remove it using the Control Panel "Add or Remove" but would not uninstall.
Then tryed to remove it by running the uninstall that came with the app.
    Still no good.
Then I went into regedit and removed things with the name of "registry cleaner"
    It still loaded.
Then did a search on the HD for "registry cleaner" and deleted all but the dll because it would not delete because it was running. I renamed it and rebooted and now it comes up stating that it can not find it.
What I'm trying to figure out is what is looking for it at boot up time so that I can remove it.

I can't seam to paste the image into this page.
The following is what it states:
{Cannot find import; DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version
    File "regdean.dll", error 126}

    Run Process Explorer 10.21

    Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of any of the below DLL files (if found) and then click the kill button.
    regclean.dll

After you have killed all instances of any of the above DLLs under winlogon click ok.
(If you do not find these DLLS, just continue on.)

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of any of the below DLL files (if found) and then click the kill button.
    regclean.dll.

After you have killed all instances of any of the above DLLs under Explorer click ok.

Next double click on iexplore.exe and again click once on each instance of any of the below DLL files (if found) and then click the kill button.
    regclean.dll

After you have killed all instances of any of the above DLLs under iexplore click ok.

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

the problem is not killing it. it's stopping the boot up from trying to load it.

That is what Process Explorer will do ...you need to kill it to be able to delete it.

should I rename it back so that it loads??

ok I ran Process Explorer and did as you told me to do but found no regdean.dll.
I assume that's because it's not loading it. There must be a list of dll's that boot up used to know which dll to load.
