Auto Patcher is dead...now what?

What MS was thinking when they do this.Auto Patcher was my favorite over MS update.Did MS think that AP was doing some piracy,come on they even have WGA in their patches.It was for FREE god damn it,sorry for this but I realy start to hate MS.Post your comment.:cry

 

Ya, I loved it too but unless they can be an approved MS distributor of updates,which I really doubt, they can't. I can see where MS is coming from, it's their updates and plus many who are running pirated copies got past the WGA with this. At least I have a slipstreamed disk with the last update, darn WU just takes forever and MS doesn't even supply a rollup since there's over 90 fixes ATM. Aaarghh. At least SP3 is supposed to come out first half next year. Did you notice that RyanVM's packs stopped in June, probably got a e-mail too.

 

No ,I just have been on ryan site,and everybody talk about AP,and "what they will do if ryan's integrator get down.Same on Siginet.

 

Microsoft is extremely strict about redistribution of their patches, and products.

I am not surprised this happened, and am more surprised it didnt happen sooner.

 

But why 4 years delay?It's sad that most of us who have low bandwith will sufer from this act by MS.

Even if they shutdown RyanVM's Integrator don't you think that everybody who have a little IT in his brain can autopatch for himself,and distribute in Internet.I don't think that this is very wise decision from MS,cos this time everybody will go underground(piracy).We had such a good comunity in AP.

 

I really dont think that piracy will increase because of this.

I just found out when I browsed their site!!! Its finished... off to risky torrent sites I suppose. Seems it was too good to be true. Well there is another possibility... like finding a site hosted in other countries with no IP laws (pretty much any developing country) but getting an English version might be a problem or a bit difficult. If anybody has foreign friends who read other languages perhaps you might ask them to google in there own language. Anybody who can read asian languages might be particularly useful or even Spanish or Portugese as I dont see the whole of South America being able to afford Microsoft's prices. If I find one I will post it up anyway... just an idea

So how exactly does this work? Do you just run the file(s) on a box that needs patching and it updates it accordingly? or do you have to pick which updates to apply?

Sorry i'm late to the game on this one. I have used Patchlink for the past 4 yrs here at work and am always looking for another solution to patching.
