hi SOLANGE thanks for the cake (have to stay away from TIMMY) and yes we have a lot of similarities.

i have been overwhelmed by the good wishes from members here you are like a second family to me


as a PS i love your country and the use of language there it's a little the same here our national language is Dutch but most people speak English and French as extra languages.

when i was working i came to Helsingborg on frequent visits to Frigoscania and i would drive up,there is a restaurant on the border of Denmark at Padborg where all the Swedes/Norwegians and Danes would meet and all you would hear is English being spoken i found the scandinavians very friendly

 

Bill, I have been to Brugge twice, and I have to say the people I met there were very friendly as well! Shame I didn't know you back then, we could have shared a coffee, a Belgium waffle and chocolate! :drool :yum

Don't ask me how much money I spent on chocolate last time I visited, I'm ashamed to admit what an addict I am!

I have a few Dutch friends, and it is amazing how similar Dutch is to Swedish! Pronunciation differs of course a lot, but the vocabulary is very close, and so is the word structure. If I didn't already speak German, I would probably find Dutch easier to understand!
