I am about to edit the top freeware picks on MajorGeeks. We have added a ton of new files and I want to be sure I do not overlook anything. As a reminder, this list is not programs you might use, or think are decent, but programs that come to mind as "must use" for whatever application you need.

If you have a favorite freeware not listed, please let me know!

I usew PhotoFiltre for 99% of my photo editing. It seems to do anything I need it to and is simple. A MUST for me. LOL

For the few things that PhotoFiltre doesn't do, XnView does, like batch operations.

Of course all the normal malware stuff.but Remove It Pro finds things the others seem to miss.

And for defargging, I think JKDefag works great.

I can't really recommend any programs right now, but I would like to know if you're going to put back the old Ad-Aware SE back up. When you click on the link under Malware it takes you straight to the 2007 version. I have it stored and you can probably get it from other places including oldversion.com, but I would rather tell people they can get it here.

And if it is still on here, can you direct me to it?

    Two big ones, really.

For those Geeks who don't use Microsoft Office themselves, but need to be able to read Office files with no frills, the Microsoft Office Viewer tools are the economical choice.

Secondly, I also suggest Mozilla Sunbird, and Lightning email client, for the same sort of productive Geek who wants to improve time management.

    Edit to my previous post.
This is a shareware app, but if you download, install, and run you are asked if you want to get the full version or continue to use the free version. It was the free version that I use. I have been using it for quite awhile. There doesn't seem to be a time limit on the use of the free version and you can update the signature files manually every time you use it

Thanks for the tip. If I have malware problems in the future, I'll definitely put it on my to-do list. Right now I'm using WinPatrol. ;)
