i did the malware removal suggested by this site, but I don't think it worked. When my scans were running, everytime they scanned the file with this trojan in it the norton antivirus popped up saying that it couldn't do anything to it. also, when i try to boot in safe mode the keyboard doesn't work, so a couple of the last scans i did in normal mode, like panda and Bitfender. This virus doesn't do anything that I know of, it is just really annoying and I've had it for about a year and a half and haven't done anything about it. ill attach all the logs and hopefully someone can help me! thanks so much

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Get started on the below while I look thru the rest of your logs.

Uninstall the below software as requested in steps 6 & 0 of the READ ME:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only) <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME
Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 0 of the READ ME

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

Is the below something you knowingly installed?
    screensaver_1024x768

You did not attach a log from CounterSpy. Did you save one?

Looks like you uninstalled CounterSpy and used AVG Antispyware? Do you have the log from AVG AS?

Do you know what the below it?
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BNITE] C:\WINDOWS\\\\\\\\\\

After doing what is in messages # 3 and 4 and answering my questions, continue with the below.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7e9fe379-7079-4cb0-9867-cf8b8e1c6a83} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ir3rts.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jusched.exe"
    O16 - DPF: {DECEAAA2-370A-49BB-9362-68C3A58DDC62} - http://static.zangocash.com/cab/Zan...551573457330:22b32e0c79951ba72dbf4c44a0363a5c
    O16 - DPF: {E473A65C-8087-49A3-AFFD-C5BC4A10669B} (Quantum Streaming IE Player Class) - http://mvnet.xlontech.net/qm/fox/06101102/qsp2ie06101001.cab
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs:
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ir3rts - ir3rts.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstqn - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqn.dll (file missing)

NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

o i forgot. counterspy didnt work so i used AVG. i thought i put up the scan but i found it so here it is! thanks again.

and when i tried to install counterspy i think the virus blocked it because it would start installing then the norton pop up with the virus would come up and it would stop installing.

If you don't specifically know what it is, I suggest uninstalling it if it appears in Add/Remove programs.

Do you know what the BNITE item is?

Ah hah! Notice that AVG AS found a bunch of things with Screensavers!!! Perhaps my suspicion on that screensaver_1024x768 item is correct.

    You're welcome.

Your logs are clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
