I've been using a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra since it was new and just recently started to experience a problem. About 25% of the time after I turn on the computer, I notice that scrolling through emails or web pages moves very slowly (in waves), line by line...just like I had a slow connection or slow cpu. When I go to Device Manager, I see a yellow circle / exclamation point next to Display Adapter. When I click on it, it says:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device
    ....The trouble shooter is useless.

If I disable it or uninstall it, then re-install and reboot, it's OK (for a while). If I backup and/or re-install drivers and reboot, everything is OK (for a while). If I just reboot, everything works normally again (for a while). I'm assuming if my Asus / nVidia card cannot start, then my MB is taking over the graphics duty, but...my digital monitor is driectly plugged in to the DVI on the video card.

Any ideas on what can be causing this intermittent glich and how it can be rectified? :confused

    Thank you.

Have you went to the website and updated the driver?

Yup, they latest drivers have been installed. I removed the old drivers first (in case they were corrupted), then installed the latest ones. I did have the latest ones installed in the first place.

    Any other ideas???

    Turn off PC.
Take the case off the PC and check the video card to make sure its pushed all the way into its slot.

I uninstalled the Asus video card and removed all the drivers. I re-installed the card and downloaded the latest drivers (again).

My Asus MB comes with Asus Probe that monitors fan speeds / temps / voltage, etc. I did notice that my 6 month old CoolMax power supply has fluctuating voltages...12v runs between 12.288v - 12.416v. 5V runs between 4.703v - 4.784v. 3.3v runs constant at 3.44v. I'm wondering if that might be the cause?

Anyway, as this is an intermittent issue, it hasn't happened yet today. I'll wait to see if the hardware / software re-installation fixed it.

On a percentage basis those voltage swings are very small, so i dont think that bothers.
Maybe you can watch your Asus Probe and see if the voltage swings correlate directly with the troubles you are having.
