Classical is so awesome, I mentioned Johannes Brahms in my post who used to make music similar to Wagner, well before he died anyway. Actually it's more accurate to say that Wagner made music similar to Brahms.:p

I don't have any favorites... half the people who create that I love are famous, the other half are unknown. No writers I read all of, and no TV at all. My movie tastes range from Army of Darkness to the notebook. I think eclectic is a good understatment.

It's about his son comitting suicide. Not the most popular band in the world. Uhhh, what exactly are you asking by the way?

  18. Anupu

    Anupu Private E-2

It doesn't matter that they're unknown, I mentioned a bunch of unknown artists in there, uhhhhh, like Pere Ubu.

Technically TV isn't Art. And you'll notice this is about your Favourite Artists. If you're talking about "Television", it's an old Punk band.

Well so do mine! Except that I haven't seen the Notebook.:wave

He did a song called Cocaine, when drugs were in.

His son I believe was only 4 years old , fell out a window of a high rise then song he wrote was Tears in Heaven, sad. Is that the one?

A lot of musician's have done songs about drugs. It was part of that era of american life.
And it was 'Tears in Heaven', Darlene...good call.
I have never heard it said before that Eric Clapton was not popular...at one time he was considered a god.

If you look up his bio it's unbelievable the bands he's been with or started or went by other names. He is one of my favorite blues artists. Actually Cocaine was JJ Cale's but Clapton made it popular, lol he made everything he did popular.

Yes, ma'am. One of the best career musician's to come out of the early years of the British Invasion.

I'm not talking about a song written by Eric, I'm talking about a song written by a band that bases everything it does on being offensive, the song is called "Your son commited suicide because you suck", but the lyrics are still about Eric. They even did an album full of sappy love songs to piss off their own fans.:duck

Absolutely! I just recently got THE ROAD TO ESCONDIDO w/ JJ Cale my favorite is w/ BB King Riding with the King, it's good. I noticed on your link Complete Clapton, now there is something to have and his autobiography that should be interesting.

Mark Knopfler, from Dire Straits yes great also.

Where on earth did that come from. Your taking things all wrong and way to personal. It's simply a discussion, opinions. As for winking it's flirting, good natured teasing.
Dead should not even be a word you should consider using. I don't think it to be a language barrier here, lighten up a bit, if your angry talk to someone. No one is 100 % right all the time, we have all been taken down a peg here. It makes me sad for you to think that way.

Being you have this condition listed in your profile I'm assumeing you won't mind me posting it for others to read and perhaps gain a little better understanding.

    What is Asperger’s syndrome?
Asperger’s syndrome is a developmental disorder in which people have difficulties understanding how to interact socially.

People with Asperger's syndrome have some traits of autism, especially weak social skills and a preference for sameness and routine. However, unlike those with autism, children with Asperger's syndrome usually start to talk around 2 years of age (the age at which speech normally develops). They have normal to above-normal intelligence.

Both conditions belong to the group of disorders called pervasive developmental disorders. A recent study of a U.S. community of 76,000 found as many as 3 out of every 1,000 children were affected by Asperger's syndrome. 1

    What causes Asperger’s syndrome?

The exact cause of Asperger's syndrome is not known. Asperger's syndrome tends to run in families, suggesting a genetic link, although scientists have not discovered a distinct genetic marker. Many experts believe that environmental factors may also play a part in causing Asperger's, although scientists have studied several factors, including vaccines, and have yet to identify a cause.

    What are the symptoms?

Children with Asperger's typically develop a good to excellent vocabulary, although they usually lack the social instincts and practical skills needed when relating to others. They may not recognize verbal and nonverbal cues or understand social norms, such as taking turns talking or grasping the concept of personal space. They may have difficulties with accent, tone, and pitch, making their speech sometimes odd or difficult to understand. They may have difficulty expressing their own feelings and perceiving others' feelings. Children with Asperger's typically make efforts to establish friendships, but they may have difficulty making friends because of their social awkwardness.

I use the wink to mean something like, "hint, hint, nudge, nudge, did you get that?" I gurantee that when I'm being sarcastic or offended, you'll know it. I won't use an emoticon.LOL

Hey ANUPU don't take everything you read on here as personal one of the aims of the forum is to be able to discuss any topic without intentionally offending another member,we have a very wide spectrum of people here from all walks of life and intellectual skills, the age group varies from young to old so obviously opinions will differ regarding music/lifestyle/education/humor and so on but we have learned to accept our limitations,

one thing you can not have failed to notice is that on occasion we tend to have a laugh at the expense of others (Lev got me yesterday in the chat box) but it is not taken as offencive or putting you/me down.

regarding the as you put it "ERIC FIASCO" you are young and have your own taste in music which differs from mine because i grew up in another era but that does not make your music or mine better it just means we have different views.

i was 60 years old last week so we are eons apart i can still remember my parent saying "DO YOU CALL THAT MUSIC" but its dejavu because i now say the same thing to the grand kids and the response is usually "yeh but you are ancient".

all we ask here is that all members be tolerant and respect the views of others we are not always right but having said that we are not always wrong either.

i hope you will continue to post with the forum as other points of view are always interesting and everyone can contribute.

But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.

We do have an emoticon for sarcasm - this one rolleyes

but even that emoticon is generally used light-heartedly on this site (in the lounge anyway rolleyes) :D

It is very difficult to tell what people mean just from the written word, which is why it pays to use a lot of emoticons :)

You will find most of the time that most of the people on this site are good-natured and enjoy stirring each other up a little bit (or is that just me :D)

As far as the song about Eric Clapton, that is the problem of the band that wrote/perform the song.
Sounds like incredibly poor taste on their part, and they perhaps need to look elsewhere for inspiration.
If a band has talent they do not need to rely on provocation or other cheap tricks.

That is the bands problem - not yours.

    It's all good :)
