Can a Sandisk USB Flash memory card (1gb) be used for a paging file?

I am always looking for ways to make my gaming just a little bit better and I would think that a paging file not on a moving part (HDD) would be a little bit faster then a HDD.

My brother-in-law gave me a Sandisk cruzer micro usb flash memory stick/card and I would like to put it to good use since I don't have any other use for it at this time.

So could it be used for a paging file?

Yes you can but flash memory or more so the USB transfer speeds are not as quick as having a quick HD or pagefile in system ram.

Worth a test though, I would likely still keep a token pagefile size on your HD say 20MB or something then use 80% of the USB flash drives size for the rest, if you run low on PF the OS will likely alert you to it being low or running out.

    Which OS btw?

    Windows Xp is my OS.

I have two HDDs, but only one is 7200rpm and that's my main drive. The other drive which has the PF all by it's lonesome is a 5400rpm drive.

So you would just set up say the one drive to have 20mbs and then set the flash drive at 80% total?

    Thanks!

Oh... I have 1536mbs of PC2700 DDR Ram if that makes a difference.

also most flash devices of that nature have a limited write amounts on them, ie only 100,000 writes to a jumpdrive which varies from device to device. But anyhow that could quickly add up storing a page file on it.
