My son teaches at a small private school and they are not yet hard wired for Internet connection and all the systems are not on a network. They have cable modem access and a 4 port wireless router. My question is, can I connect the Wireless Router to a Netgear 16 Port Desktop Switch (via Ethernet) then connect several PCs to the Switch and then set up a network for all the PCs? Primary purpose would be to enable all the PCs in his classroom to be able to connect to and use a couple of printers.

Any help, advice would be appreciated

    Thanks

That would fine, my thinking is most desktops have wired cards builtin, and its cheaper to buy a 16 port switch then buy wireless cards for each machine. Also why would an electrician be able to help with a networking issue? Do the setup as you planned that will work fine.
